Hi all,

I'm once again reminded why I'm glad to be a GoLUG member and use Linux:

Apple's New iMacs: 10 Reasons You Should Buy Them

http://www.eweek.com/pc-hardware/slideshows/apples-new-imacs-10-reasons-you-should-buy-them/

Let's go over the reasons:

1) It's Thin ? Really, Really Thin
Sleek too, I bet.
2) Big Screens
Another way of saying you're stuck with the screen that came with
the CPU, instead of just being able to buy whatever screen you want.
3) OS X Mountain Lion ("Considering how much outcry there is over
Windows 8, it appears Apple's operating system might be just what
the doctor ordered.)
I guess forgetting Linux and BSD, while comparing one's self to the
village idiot, is considered compelling.
4) Less Reflection Is Huge
It's huuuuuge. See #2.
5) A Nice Intel Processor
Whoooa, stop the presses! A nice Intel processor. My daughter just
got a nice, 4 core AMD processor in a laptop 50% the price of its
Apple equivalent, and that computer can run Linux.
6) Nvidia's Graphics Are a Nice Addition
It IS nice that Apple is proprietary enough to make Nvidia behave.
We've all heard what Linus said to Nvidia:
See time marker 1:40
7) An Affordable Mac?
$1195 for the smallscreen. With an advertisement!
8) Fusion Drive
Sounds to me like a hard drive cached on an SSD. Ohhh, I could NEVER
do that with Linux.
9) Space Savings
And did they mention it's practically impossible to service by
yourself, unless your hands are equally space saving? But don't
worry, if you're a true fanboy, 6 months from now you'll want the
next version.
10) Don't Underestimate Thunderbolt's Importance
For when USB3, Firewire and eSata just aren't enough.

I'm trying to remember -- were Windows Weenies every THIS obnoxious?
Man am I glad to be a Linux guy in GoLUG.

I stopped reading at #4. Nothing reflects better than a Mac. They
reflect so much that they are useless in lighting conditions that are
significantly better than a night light.
